Please join The Nonprofit Partnership and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Erie County for virtual Mental Health First Aid Training!

This two-part virtual training opportunity will take place on Tuesday, November 30th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and Thursday, December 2nd from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM via Zoom.

Mental Health First Aid teaches an individual how to identify, understand, and properly respond to signs of mental illnesses.

In the evidence-based Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where you can turn for help.

Topics Covered:

  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Trauma
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use disorders

Interventions Learned:

When you take the course, you learn how to apply the Mental Health First Aid action plan in a variety of situations, including when someone is experiencing:

  • Panic attacks
  • Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
  • Nonsuicidal self-injury
  • Acute psychosis (e.g., hallucinations or delusions)
  • Overdose or withdrawal from alcohol or drug use
  • Reaction to a traumatic event
