Please join us and former Board member of The Nonprofit Partnership, Tom Tupitza of Knox Law, for "Board: Govern Thyself" on Tuesday, March 21st.
During this session, Tom will explore the role of the Governance Committee (formerly referred to as the Nominating Committee by many) within the Board of Directors. He will discuss the Committee's various roles in selecting Board members, orienting new Board members, and evaluating Board members (and, in some organizations, evaluating the Executive Director, as well). Tom will also discuss IRS regulations and other compliance requirements.
Don't miss this opportunity to strengthen one of your organization's most essential pillars!
The learning objectives for this session include:
- Help Board members and staff gain a greater understanding of the Governance Committee and its role in strengthening the organization (sharing of experiences of participants and answering questions will help achieve this and the other objectives)
- Examine best practices regarding selection, orientation, and evaluation of Board members and the Executive Director
- Consider IRS regulations, other compliance requirements, and best practices bearing on the function of the Committee
This session is a must for Board Chairs and Executive Directors, but it is relevant to any Board member or staff member in a nonprofit agency.
The level of learning for this session is intermediate.
